Whale Watching

Today was a glorious day on the water! It was flat calm and looked like glass. No wind, swells, or chop so it was a perfect day to go out whale watching. There are so many whales here right now because of the herring and everywhere you look, you can see them . We had some awesome moments and I was able to get a few of them on camera.
They are such peaceful animals as they gracefully glide through the water, and then without warning they will explode up and out, mouths wide open as they get a mouthful of herring. I was able to get some great shots, which are below.
here you see one as it glides through the water.....
they will bubble feed, which means they stun or trap the herring as they swim around them, using teamwork to get them trapped. then, all of a sudden, they explode out of the water with their mouths wide open. if you click on these photos to enlarge them, you can see the herring. this is two whales - one is going back down into the water, the other one has just come out of the water with it's mouth wide open.....
we were sitting there watching them in the distance when all of a sudden, about 30 yards off our bow, the herring started leaping out of the water. before we had time to realize what was happening, these two whales shot up and out of the water. it was incredible!!!.....

look at the ones that got away!!.....

a little while later, we had moved to a different set of whales and were watching them all around us. we were keeping our safe distance and all of a sudden, the shallow water alarm went off and the depth showed us at just 3 feet of water! troy said "we need to move!" and started backing up and then right next to us, the whale that had just swam under our boat surfaced. so we kept backing up and then the whale plus 4 of it's friends all lined up in a row and swam straight at our boat at a fast speed and in formation. we couldn't leave fast enough! we don't know what they were doing, but our best guess is that they had decided we were in the way and were working together to move us! we figured we would save them the trouble and removed ourselves!!
just amazing!!.......

it was hard to leave at the end of the day, but we were so thankful for the day we had. and we were just so amazed at God's creation and how He gives them the instinct to know to arrive here just in time for the herring. not really sure how evolutionist can figure that into their theory! or how they were able to work together to bubble feed, or to give us the hint to leave. only a Creator could design something so amazing.
