Plenty of Camo

How should you spend Veteran's Day? Well, in camo, of course! Despite a less than desireable weather forecast, we loaded up the boat Friday afternoon and hit the waves head on. As we got to the area known as "The Washing Machine" - a shortcut to take during rough sea conditions - it became obvious that we were not going to make it. It was on the agitation cycle! So we turned around and found shelter at a nearby cabin. It was thankfully empty that night. The next morning we got up and made a 1st, a 2nd, a 3rd and finally a 4th attempt to get through the "Washing Maching." By the 4th try, things had calmed down enough that we were able to through so on we went to Seven Fathom Cabin. It is a postage stamp sized cabin, and one of our favorites. Here you can see the quiet bay it is set in......

that night we enjoyed plenty of cribbage.....
and then it was off the 3rd day to track down a deer or two....
of course, andrew was itching to shoot his first quirrel......
...and he got one!(with a little help from dad).....
then it was skinnin' time....
that smile is because the sun peeked out.....
at one point we lost andrew - this was the PLS (place last seen)....
andrew was very proud to be out hunting
in his camo with the grown-ups.....
we weren't lost.. just confirming our location with the GPS....
the guys.....
as we ended our short trek through the woods, we found the
buck we had been tracking. kris got the kill shot....
the mighty hunters.....
