Andrew turned in a King Salmon for the salmon derby last month and his prize was a year long family membership to the Alaska Raptor Rehabilitation Center here in Sitka. It is where sick or injured eagles and birds of prey go to recover. Some are not able to be released back into the wild so they end up as resident birds at the center. There are some magnificent birds there and here are some of their pictures. I wanted to name what each bird is, but I can't remember!
This is obviously a Bald Eagle......

This is what the center looks like.....

Andrew proudly displays his certificate.....

There were some beautiful owls........

I don't think you could observe these birds too many times and get bored with it. They are so spectacular and interesting to watch. We look forward to going back throughout the year.
