Despite the rain, the parade must go on. So, in South East Alaska style, we donned our Gore-tex and Extra-tuffs and headed to the curb to watch. We had a grand time, especially when the bag started filling full of soaking wet candy. And since some of the candy was going to go bad due to being too wet, we had to eat it quickly. What a bummer!!

the girls wait for the candy to be thrown.....

good thing for umbrellas!!.....
troy drove the coast guard electric car with andrew in the back
on the little mini H-60.....

after the parade, the sitka fire department competes in the annual water fight with the coast guard. it is a wild and wet time. troy was going to be on the fire department's side, but he was threatened with being sent to the gulf to help with the oil spill if he didn't play on the coast guard side. not willing to call their bluff, he had to switch loyalties. but at least he stays in alaska!!

engine 7 rolls up.....

waiting to start.....

the opposing team stuffed a sock down the nozzle, so they had no water!!!.....

trying to get the sock out of the nozzle.....

troy talks smack to someone......

get ready.....

go!!.....

preparing for the next round....

getting the upper hand.....

the battle rages....

this kid had a good idea!!........

what is he running from?....

pushing the barrell.....

shaking hands at the end.. because the coast guard steals volunteers
from the fire department, leaving them empty handed,
the coast guard tends to win.....

the trophy......

Great shots Jenn! What a fun tradition!! Can't really do fireworks in the daylight :)
We had sun our two days of fishing. Prince William Sound was glass. Rained on the way home, and now its stormy here on Greely. But Alaska is still beautiful in the rain :) Happy 5th to your sweet family!
