The herring moved into the harbor and to the shore so out in the boat we went. We have herring jigs that have 6 hooks on them. We would put the lines in the water and immediately the tips of the fishing rods would start to dance. We would bring up any amount from 1 to 6 herring. It was a blast and within two hours we had 24 dozen herring in our fish hold. It was a beautiful day on the water and a great way to spend Easter together.

So interested in your wonderful blog. Karen looks great!! She can fish as well as knit! Do you eat herring? or are they used for bait? And where does the term "red herring" come from?
We are settling in to Fort Greely.
It's beautiful out here.
