What We Did on Mother's Day

What a wonderful Mother's Day I had!! It started out with breakfast in bed, courtesy of my gang. A yummy plate of eggs, bacon and a waffle. After church, we found out our friends were out at the beach, so we loaded our boat up quickly and headed out. This beach requires local knowledge to get into so you don't hit any rocks and we didn't know how yet, so it was a perfect day to find out. The sun was shining and it was a warm 58*. We had a real relaxing afternoon and just finished it off with New York steaks that had been marinating all day. And of course, a delicious triple chocolate cake! Can't think of what would have made the day more perfect!!

and for my gift..... troy knows how badly i want/need to go sit on a warm beach without any responsibilities or interruptions. but that is not something that can be found here in sitka. yes, we just had a fun day on a white sand beach. it was warm and peaceful. BUT.... i am talking more along the lines of hawaii or aruba or the bahamas. you know, as in a vacation where my only concern and desicion is what to wear today and what to eat this time. well, being the best husband in the world, and being a guy who likes to fix things, he came up with the next best thing. so, he called the kids and they went behind a closed door for awhile and made my gift - this is a box that i can look at while sitting in my rocking chair in the quiet corner of my bedroom. i can look at this and imagine that i am on my vacation without a care in the world. i absolutely LOVE it and think it was the perfect gift (well, next to an actual REAL vacation anyway!!) by the way, he actually used real sand from the gulf of mexico that he collected while there recently!
IT'S SO GREAT TO BE A MOM!!!!!!
