Sea Lion Cove

Did you know that after a 40 minute boat ride and a 45 minute hike, you can be in California? We didn't either. But when we arrived at Sea Lion Cove, we made the discovery! We loaded up the boat with friends and had a great time as we headed out for the hike. Of course, being deer season, we took the rifle with us, just in case. But there were enough people in our party that we pretty much scared the deer off before we even saw any. Oh well.
the day was partly sunny and rather warm.....
off-loading at the trail head....
the kids and calvin gearing up.......
the trail was a little muddy so we had to weave our way along.....
the very fancy trail sign.....
meg finds a spot to take a break.....
cool moss.....
the trail going through the woods.....
there were neat muskegs all along the way....
another muskeg along the trail.....
and another one.....
the mountainside seemed huge.....
kinda looks like africa.....

andrew and calvin......
we make it to the beach! troy and calvin.....
mom and nelly.....
happy to be here finally!....
lunch was the first thing we did!....
meg blends in with the environment......
can you see the face?......
who can resist walking the logs?....
and then you have to jump!!.....
i think i see something.....
nelly needed a belt so we found a piece of rope on the beach.....
troy on the log.....
troy falling off the log.....
what are they up to?......
they're cutting net out of the log pile......
a creek running onto the beach.....
meg likes to go to the top.....
wonder what she's doing.....
that is a wall of sand, perfect to drop logs off of.....
pushing the driftwood.....
fathom waits for her to float the driftwood by.....
a pool to rinse off in....
and a fire to warm up by.....
there was another group out there surfing....
done for the day.....
after a delightful day, it was time to head home.....
we really enjoyed sealion cove and plan to go back as often as we can!
