Just Like That

We arrived into Sitka on August 17th. I don't think it has stopped raining since. Well, okay, I guess there have been a day or two in there, but very hit and miss. And it never dries out. The sun will shine, but the ground is so saturated that it is always wet.
It looks a little like this........In Kodiak, we had a dry wind that would blow so even if it had been raining for days, as soon as it stopped, things started to dry out. But here, if you look close, you can see webs forming on your feet.
This is what you might step in if you leave your house......
......or if you try to get into your car to drive, it might look like this...........
We need to have warning signs around just in case a car
drives too fast through a rainpuddle...... But today a strange brightness appeared in the sky............ ....and the sky started to clear.......
.....and Pioneers saw a sight they haven't seen in years......
...and the sun was OUT!!!!

And then, just like that, the clouds move back in and the rain returns. It was fun while it lasted, and we all feel revived, if not a little sad to see it go. We will pull out the rain boots one more time and put away the hoodless jackets. We will make sure to park on the top of the hill so we don't have to use a kayak to get into our car and we will wait for the next glimpse of the sun.
But in the end, God still reminds us of His promise never to flood the earth again by painting His rainbow in the sky.....
