Tide Pools

Today seemed like a good day for a walk so we headed out to go to John Brown's Beach which is about a 10 minute walk from our house. The beaches here in Sitka are mostly rocky and John Brown is a sandy beach, which makes it popular. Usually there is someone already there and since it is a postage stamp sized beach, then you have to go to the rocky beach right next to it. This is usually the case on a warm summer day. But today it was cold so we had the beach to ourselves. And we were happy to see that the tide was out. That made the beach a little bigger and gave us some fun tide pools to check out. The kids loved watching the crabs scurry when they lifted the rocks they were hiding under.
Here they are, waiting to play! This is basically the size of the beach, with the tide out.....

cormorants having a discussion......
the Coast Guard flew by while we were there......

How nice to have sunny days! We have had too many sunny days in a row to count. Okay I take that back but you and I both know when it starts getting sunny its easy to forget those dreary rainy days. I feel the same about our kids ages right now. We truly are able to get out and enjoy ourselves with them so much more then the days of kids in backpacks and having to go home for a nap.
