Going to the Races

Yesterday was the official Pinewood Derby for the Cub Scouts. Andrew and his Dad have been working hard on his race car. It started out as a chunk of wood. He had to decide what design the car would have and then what it would look like after the paint job and personal touches. After working on it for a few days, he was ready for race day.
Here are some of the race cars lined up and ready. Andrew's is the red and yellow one in the front row with the number 29 on the roof. Does Kevin Harvick come to mind??

Here are some die hard race fans, pumped up and ready for speed!

The "Harvick Racer" is at the starting line..... AND THEY'RE OFF!!!!!!!!!

Sadly, the "Harvick Racer" was of a bad design and did not have good aerodynamics. But there is always room to learn and plenty of time to design next years model.

Of course, after you get caught speeding, you get a ticket. The Sitka Police Department got wind of the racing and made sure there was an officer on hand to hand out some speeding tickets.

These two boys are quite proud of their crime!!

Andrew is a Tiger Cub, which is a level in the Cub Scouts, which is a level in the Boy Scouts. (Did you get that?!) Here he is giving his best Tiger face.
